Worcester Idea Lab Welcomes New Tenant

WORCESTER, MA – The Worcester Idea Lab, the co-working and accelerator space at 20 Franklin Street, welcomed Clark University and the Small Business Development Center to downtown Worcester this month. “The Worcester Business Development Corporation is thrilled to partner with Clark’s School of Management and the SBDC to bring its faculty, students, and clients downtown and are excited to see the formation of great connections and partnerships between our existing members and new users of the space. We are proud to offer flexible and affordable class A office space to help support the regions’ higher education community and entrepreneurs”, says Craig L. Blais, President of the WBDC.

"Having a presence in downtown Worcester is an ideal location for our Clark School of Management, SBDC student interns, as well as students engaged in our Entrepreneurship & Innovation program. Entrepreneurship students will use this new space in formulating ideas and prototypes for future business ventures. Our SBDC students assist in helping local small business owners launch and then scale their businesses. " said Dr. David Jordan, Interim Dean of the School of Management.

Tom Herald, Regional Director of the SBDC said “I am genuinely excited to be part of the Clark SBDC internship expansion downtown. Every time a student is paired with an entrepreneur and a business mentor, real synergy takes place. This expansion showcases that dynamic as a collaboration between the WBDC, MSBDC, Clark University, the SBA, and City, State, and Federal governments. It is the essence of a community working together to grow the local economy.”

The Worcester Idea Lab opened in 2015 as part of the $42 million redevelopment project at 20 Franklin Street. The Idea Lab supports a range of organizations from non-profits and universities to high-tech startup companies. The space was generously funded in part by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and MassDevelopment.

The Worcester Idea Lab is always welcoming new members to the 1st floor co-working space and 4th floor accelerator space. There are a mixture of seating options available with views of Worcester City Hall and the Worcester Common. Please contact Samantha Penzone for more information and monthly rates.
